The Mount Pleasant Tigers kept their perfect record intact on Friday against the Longview Lobos to remain atop District 15-5A and in the top ten in the state. The Tigers were stingy on the defensive end taking 6 charges on the night, a new season-high, not allowing the Lobos to get anywhere close to the basket without a defender in their path.

Mount Pleasant opened the game with a 15-10 first quarter advantage before pulling away in the second frame. The Tigers used a 12-1 run to close out the first half and lead 33-15 at the break. Longview tried to hang with the Tigers in the second half but didn’t have enough gas in the tank to mount a comeback as they fell to a 2-3 record in the district.

Payton Chism posted a season-high 25 points including a 3 for 6 mark from behind the arc and went 4 for 5 from the line. He also took two charges along with 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Reggie Webster posted 8 points going 4 for 4 from the charity stripe along with a team-high 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block. Kelcey Morris joined him in the scoring column with 8 points and notched 3 assists and 3 steals. Carter Chism hoisted 7 points with 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Kai Price had 2 points and 1 charge taken, and Luke Hampton added 2 points and 2 rebounds. Kyler Smith failed to score but was a menace on the defensive end with 3 rebounds and a team-high 3 charges taken.

The Tigers (24-0, 5-0) will host Marshall (12-15, 1-4) on Tuesday before traveling to take on Tyler (14-6, 4-1) on Friday.
